Rent a motor boat for a day and zip along the calm waters of Trincomali Channel, a prime boating area noted for its uniquely eroded sandstone shores, hidden beaches and islands with historical significance. Set a crab trap on your way out on your trip, pick it up on your return.....a day on the water exploring the beauty of the Westcoast, a crab feast and a wonderous sunset.........Priceless
Many sea bird colonies as well as seal harems can be found on the surrounding islands and provide a fantastic opportunity for the avid photographer. J, K and L pods of Orcas are resident in this area and they frequent Active Pass on a regular basis. 'Grannie' the matriarch of J Pod is the oldest free swimming Orca in the world. She was born during WW l. During the Summer the Orcas pass through Active Pass every 1-2 days on their feeding cycle. If your timing is right they can be viewed from several spots on the shores of Active Pass (Mary Ann Road, and Bellhouse Park are two prime viewing spots) or up close from a boat.
If you arrive by ferry without a car and are staying at a B&B, Inn or cottage give us a call and we can arrange to pick you up and return you to your accommodation after your boating or mopeding experience.
It is preferable that the person operating the boat has their "Pleasure Craft Operating Certificate" which can be found at the website https://www.boaterexam.com/canada/. If the person operating the boat does not have their PCOC, then I will need to spend approximately 1/2 hr reviewing safety and operational procedures. Upon which a saftey / operational checklist will be filled out and accompany the driver in the boat. After going over a safety and operating orientation, I will review the charts and point out places of interest to see such as hidden beaches, places where wildlife might be sighted, docks that give access to shore, restaurants, fuel and other places that will make your visit a memorable one
